The wedding took place at Girthon Parish Church of Mr Alexander Marshall, a well-known local footballer, 3 Braeside, New Galloway, and Miss Catriona Currie MacKinnon, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs Dugald MacKinnon, Kennel House, Gatehouse. Rev. J B F Montgomery, minister of the church and Moderator of the Presbytery of Kirkcudbright, officiated and Mrs E J McCluskie played the organ. Miss Ann McKinnon (sister) was bridesmaid and Mr Charles L Padfield was 'groomsman.

The best man was Mr Kenneth Court, and the reception was held in the Masonic Arms, Gatehouse.
Mrs Johnstone, cousin of the bride, sang "I'll Walk Beside You" during the signing of the register.

The wedding group pictured after the marriage in Anwoth Church, Gatehouse, on Saturday of Mr John Edgar, Leicester, and Miss Christine Margaret Davidson, 24 Riverbank, Gatehouse.

Officiating at the ceremony was the Rev. John Turnbull, with the bride's cousin Mr John Adams at the organ.

Given away by her father, who with his wife are at present on leave from Nigeria, the bride wore a white figured brocade dress cut on Princess lines, with a full-length veil and diamante headdress. She carried a white prayer-book with white rosebuds and stephanotis.

Matron of honour was Mrs Sheila Johnstone (cousin of the bride), with Miss Penelope Yates attending as train-bearer.

Best man was Mr William Campbell, brother of the 'groom, and the bridesmaids were Miss Ellen Walker, sister of the bride, and the 'grooms sister, Miss Patricia Campbell.

Gatehouse burgh surveyor and well known local architect, Mr Antony Curtis Wolffe pictured after his marriage in Anwoth Old Manse to Miss Alix Graham, daughter of Commander James Graham O.B.E. R.N.(retd) Mr Angus Nicoll was the best man and the bridesmaid was the bride's sister Astri, with Mary Sleeman the flower girl. Rev. John Turnbull officiated.

The wedding took place in Anwoth Church, Gatehouse, of Mr David Tweedie, Ardwall, Gatehouse, and Miss Muriel McNally, 20 Fleet Street. Rev. John Turnbull officiated with Mr Duncan Grant at the organ. The 'groom's brother Thomas was best man and the bridesmaids were Misses Maureen Cullie and Elma Stewart.

 

Married in Crossmichael  Parish Church last Thursday were William Campbell, 16 Digby Street, Gatehouse, and Nancy McBride, of Dryfe Cottage, Crossmichael. The Rev. D. McDairmid officiated with Mr W. Little at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, Mr F. McBride, was attended by Mrs Ian McBride (sister-in-law). The groom's brother Jackie was the best man and a reception was held in the Imperial Hotel, Castle Douglas.

Montgomery officiated at the ceremony, with Mrs McCluskie at the organ and the bride who was given away by her father Mr Robert Welsh, was attended by her sisters Marion and Mary. Mr Sandy Grieve was the best man and the reception was held in the Anwoth Hotel, Gatehouse. Mr Hay is the 'News' correspondent in Gatehouse.

A lucky horse shoe was presented to the bride when Mr John Kirk, Upper Senwick, Borgue, and Miss Jennifer Murray, 24 Mersecroft, Kirkcudbright, were married at Girthon Parish Church, Gatehouse on Saturday. The presentation was made by Miss Alison Rae. The bridesmaids were Miss Barbara Murray and Miss Evelyn Walker, and the best man was Mr Allan Kirk.

Captain P.J.D. Herberts, presently Adjutant of the 17th Battalion The Parachute Regiment, and Miss Penelope Ann Stubbs, Rusko, Gatehouse, were married at St Mary's Chapel, Gatehouse, on Wednesday by Rev. Father Lynch. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by Miss Christine Dinan and Miss Shirley Colledge, with Mr Michael Brown, best man. The reception was held at 'Rusko', Gatehouse.
