1911 Anwoth Census, Fleet Street : John Reid (33, widower, assurance agent, born Lugar, Ayrshire) lived alone.
It is unlikely that the 1891 census is the correct John Reid, but the 1911 one may well be him.
1920 Girthon Valuation Roll : John Reid, insurance agent was a tenant in a house in High Street owned by Miss Jane Welsh.
Roll of Honour published 1927, confirms John Reid had moved to High Street.
Gatehouse link : At the very least John Reid lived in High Street between 1920 (valuation roll) and 1927 (Roll of Honour publication).

SRoH. No mention in The Stewartry Roll of Honour. Identified from a group photo owned by soldier Gavin McCrone, who had named all the soldiers in the photo, which was probably taken in 1914.

Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser 08/06/1915: Private W.W. Rennie sent a letter saying that he is with Lieut. Salmond. Lieut. Salmond is adjutant and is kept very busy and everyone is proud of him.
ScotlandsPeople Index gives the birth in 1897 of William Walker Rennie in Lanarkshire.

Also on the Leswalt War Memorial: Corporal Robert Richardson of Gordon Highlanders. The Scottish War Memorial website says that this Robert he won the D.M.C. He was born c.1890 to John and Jane Richardson of Weirston, Kirkcolm. This is James' brother.
Leswalt Cemetery : "Erected by John Richardson in memory of his son David who died at High Barbeth on 28th Nov 1912 aged 11 years. Also his sons James Pte CH who fell in action in France 29th Sep 1917 aged 20 years and Robert Corpl DCM GH who fell in action in France 23rd March 1918 aged 28 years."

Awarded D.C.M. at Beaumont Hamel. “He displayed great courage and determination during a bombing attack against the enemy, and materially assisted in the success of the operation”; and 1914-15 Star. Killed 23rd March 1918.
