Enlisted March 1916, 9th Battalion Royal Scots.   Served on Western Front (Ypres, Arras etc).     Killed in action 22nd March 1918.

Enlisted 30th August 1914, 8th Black Watch.     Transferred to Machine Gun Corps.
Served on Western Front (Ypres, Arras, Loos etc).     Wounded once at Somme.

Medal Index card : Pte James McKinna 17359 M.G. Corps. Awarded Victory & British medals. Enlisted 31st August 1914.  Pte S/3703 R. Highlrs. (Black Watch).  Awarded 15 Star while with Black Watch. Discharged 21st November 1918.

Kirkcudbrightshire Advertiser 17th November 1916 : Mr & Mrs A. M'Kinna, Rosebery Terrace, Gatehouse, have received word that their son, Private James M'Kinna, has been wounded, and is at present  in the King George Hospital in London. He enlisted into the Black Watch in August 1914 and was sent to the front in May 1915, and has been on active service since that date.

Served on Eastern Front (Gaza and several other engagements in Egypt).
